The old trails are like threads of memories
The ability of traditional trails to evoke and transmit information and stories is enormous. However, time is unforgiving. Now you can help us restore these trails and continue enjoying walking them as before.
Keeping the flame alive of our predecessors is one of the aims of the Association Marques de Pastor. One of the most important elements in this task are the old traditional trails and paths and so, right from the start, the Association decided to invest 10% of the profits of El Cinquè Llac in the restoration of the dry-stone walls and paved trails that line the route.
There is still a lot of work to be done. To ensure that correct decisions are taken as part of the Gratitud Pallars Project, an expert assessor was contracted to identify the main problems affecting the trails along the El Cinquè Llac circuit. Henceforth, every year we will choose a section of the route where we will strive to focus all our efforts.
The Association works hand-in-hand with volunteers (both local and from elsewhere in Europe), experts in old trails and local administrative bodies. Given the difficulty in finding funding, the sponsorship of sections of the trails is of utmost importance. The amount of money we raise determines the length of the section of trail we can restore.
Everybody who appreciates the value of old trails can contribute to their restoration. Sponsoring a trail is a way of establishing an emotional tie with the past and the future of these Pyrenean mountainsides.
